Greens are good. Any book on diet or nutrition will advise that enjoying them in abundance is one of the most healthful dietary strategies. Derived from the Anglo-Saxon word meaning “grass”, green has always been linked to the natural world, the environment and to the great outdoors. It’s also associated with the heart and with love. On the negative side, green is the color of Jealousy, Envy and Greed. In China it is the symbol of infidelity.

The gorgeous green of the plant world is the result of chlorophyll, a magnesium based pigment that functions, almost magically, to turn light energy into sugar. As attractive as it is, chlorophyll isn’t just a pretty face. In addition to being a source of magnesium, it’s a powerful anti-oxidant, has anti cancer properties, can be used topically to accelerate the healing of wounds and acne blemishes. Adding a drop or two to your favorite mouth wash can eliminate mouth odors, improve bad breath and help prevent gum disease. Chlorophyll has even been used intravenously to improve skin cancer lesions and for treating chronic pancreatitis.

You can by chlorophyll liquid in most health food stores or on the internet. It’s completely non-toxic, so you can take as much as you want. It’s quite green though and it is a pigment. So, you want to be careful not to spill any on your clothes. Chlorophyll is also available in capsules, which are easier to use although not as cost effective.
