The humble potato is the most widely consumed vegetable in the United States. It’s a nutritional dynamo, containing an abundant blend of anti-oxidants, lots of vitamins, minerals, as well as fiber and even a bit of protein. Despite the fact that they are loaded with carbs, if you are trying to get skinny, potatoes can play an important part of an effective weight loss program.

The potato diet is pretty darn easy to follow. Basically, all you do is eat potatoes. It doesn’t matter how you prepare them, but for maximum pound dropping benefit, you want to eat your potatoes cold. You can add a bit of salt, but no butter, no chives, or sour cream or anything else, just plain old potatoes. You can eat as many potatoes as you want, but you’ll find that you’re going to be full and satisfied after just one or maybe two medium sized ones.

As far as liquids go, all that you are allowed to drink on the potato diet is water, plain tea, or black coffee. The only caution, is potatoes are night shade vegetables. So, you want to be careful if you are dealing with an autoimmune disease or an inflammatory disease of any kind. But if not, when the potato diet is done correctly, you can loose a pound or more a day, with no decrease in muscle tone.
